Important things to Know when buying an entry level laptop

So you've decided its time for you to get a laptop but you don't know which one to choose? if you are one of those people that don't really care... you are just looking for a laptop to create and type out documents on or watch movies or just look cool with... then here are some tips you should consider before you choose and shop it online

As I have browsed through the online shops and seen a pattern, i give you these tips based on thorough research

1) A Think Pad is cheap but it is not a laptop!

Think Pads, as you will find a lot on Jumia, Konga and other online sites, are not laptops. They are more like Tablets attached to a keyboard. That means you can install apps from the android store (most of them run on Android) but you cant install proper laptop software. They also do not have the large memories that laptops have.

If you do not mind these things then the Thinkpad is great for you!
They are very portable, and most major software have app versions so you won't be missing out on much!. You can browse, organise and save your documents and do so stylishly. Most of them a flexible too.

They are more affordable that the least selling laptops as you can snag a ThinkPad for a price between N20,000 and N40,000

2) An entry level laptop should not cost more than N60,000

In as much as there are several features (listed below) that classifies a laptop as "entry level" you can sometimes tell by their price. There are, and should be, below N60,000

3) Features
An entry level laptop is likely to have these features

RAM: 2 - 4GB (most can be expandable to higher ram)

Processor: Intel Celeron - Intel Pentium - AMD dual core

Harddrive: most modern day entry laptops usually come with 500GB harddrive
